california. and we are looking at moderate rain at this time across northern california into southwestern oregon and also up in the seattle and the coast of washington state. now tomorrow we are actually going to see even heavier rain start to move in. we have already had reports of about 8 to 10 inches of rainfall already from the past few storms we've already seen. but we've also gotten reports of wind gusts up to 60 to more than 80-mile-per-hour. and we're going to see more of the same if not a little more intense as we go into sunday morning. additional rainfall totals on top of the 8 to 10 inches on the ground could be an additional 5 to 6, 7 inches of rainfall out of what we'll see tomorrow morning. we have the series of storms moving into the west coast. then it's a totally different story right in the middle of the country. we're also talking about record-break heat today. down into dallas and also into san antonio where temperatures should get into the upper 70s and lower 80s. that's about 20 degrees warmer than average for this first day of december. the only cool spot really is

for travellers in northern california. interstate 80 is back open today. but it had to be shut down yesterday because of dangerous near whiteout conditions. weather and heavy holiday traffic caused many programs on the roads so many drivers spun off the road and tow truck drivers couldn't keep up. cars were detoured off the highway and through residential areas, creating a crowded mess and frustrating travellers. >> we had a pretty good cell come in and stay right here. probably put about 24 inches of snow in a very quick amount of time. >> we pulled over. we saw the sign saying the road was closed. we thought they were kidding but they weren't. >> snow will continue to fall this weekend and heavy rain and gusty winds are forecasted for the sacramento valley. >>> police involved shooting in west baltimore has left one man dead. it happened early this morning at a shell gas station on north bend road. the man approached the officer. the officers asked hip several times to drop the knife. when he refused the officer shot him. he was take ton the hospital where he was pronounced dead. the office

a tireless voice for family-friendly policies, for protecting the coastline of northern california and for bringing our troops home and ending the misguided wars in iraq and afghanistan. lynn was a leader of the congressional progressive caucus and i call her the mom of the caucus. and her passionate voice on progressive issues, she will be missed. her leadership will be missed and it will be a great vacuum for us to fill in the future. bob filner had a years' long odyssey for filipino veterans who fought along u.s. troops in world war ii but were denied benefits through their service. so the war -- the united states congress broke its promise it had made to these veterans and for decades to follow, they struggled to secure fair treatment, similar to that afforded to the men who fought alongside them. as chairman of veterans' affairs committee, bob filner was in the middle of this fight. i wish him well as he moves on to a new phase to his service to the people of san diego. jose baca, or joe baca, has been a friend of mine for a long time. school boards and all other elected offic
